A lunch that was 45 years overdue

North York Flames, circa 1978
• My best guess is this hockey picture was taken in 1978…the year this group was last together. Yesterday myself (top row, far right) and 3 other team members met up for lunch at a Firkin pub in Toronto. A conversation that was 45 years overdue! Amazing how we pretty much picked up where we left off… still friends, still teammates, still knowing we've got each other's back. If the coaches hadn't bothered with a team picture that year, I doubt any of us would have batted an eye. But 45 years later I sure am grateful to have this memory.

The three I had lunch with were;
• Neil Harris - front row, 2nd from left
• Ben Hunter - back row, 2nd from left
• Rob Perrault - middle row, 3rd from right
• and again, that's me, Bob Rodkin - back row, far right

The best of memories ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Pope Francis just became my favourite Pope…again

Pope Francis is now allowing priests to bless same sex unions. He says such unions should not be subject to “exhaustive moral analysis” and that anyone seeking God‘s love and mercy should receive it.

Millions of lives will be released from judgement by this, many families reconciled, many hearts given comfort that were tormented before.

Much respect for him for this. This is truly a great thing.

Didn’t even feel like another coffee today, but…

Didn't even feel like another coffee today, but I was at a shop with a Starbucks right beside so what could I do? The pull of the caffeine is just too strong.

Trailer for sale…

Saw this on twitter…just had to post it here 😎

The Long Road

You're older than you used to beThe mirror weaves a tapestry Of lines that dance and shimmer 'round your eyesYou stare back at a man, forever holding out his handAs if the answer's going to fall out of the sky
But the penny never droppedAnd no man has ever stopped time flying by

Depression & Anxiety

No need to repost or share… you know the pain is real. Know also that you are loved just as you are 🥰

SportsNet is Cancelled

Sorry SportsNet, just can't justify $40/month to watch the odd Bruins game.

The Taylor Swift queue

We're in queue to register for Taylor Swift tickets, and we're hoping to get 9 seats together.
…I wonder if the armrests go up? The dogs would find that more comfortable.

Foolproof Way to Eliminate Mosquitoes

Deep Smoky Sunshine

Found some colour on a wee walkabout this morning. The sun seemed to have an unusual deep hue today…possibly from the smokiness in the air?

Streamlining...again

Once again I've spent the last day or so deleting or deactivating several social accounts. I'm working at deleting any online presence that I no longer have the time or interest in being active. Still a ways to go.

Kettlemans Bagel

Was on my way home when I came across Kettlemans Bagel …so of course I had to stop. Had the smoked meat on a sesame seed bagel…SOOOO GOOD!

Orr Announces Retirement

Chicago Black Hawks owner, Bill Wirtz watches as Bobby Orr announces his retirement at just 30 years old. November 9, 1978.

Maple Leaf Gardens

Construction on Maple Leaf Gardens was completed in 1931.
In 1954, at the age of 21, my father moved from Montreal to Toronto and lived in the apartment building in the right of this photo. Right behind MLG. Two years later he purchased a pair of season tickets that are still in the family today (my brothers share them, I'm a Bruins fan).
It wasn't until this year that I really thought about this… imagine, a 23 year old bachelor living behind MLG with season tickets starting in '56. The amazing hockey he witnessed first hand…not to mention the Stanley Cups.

My iPhone has gone on strike…

Obscured by Clouds

I think this just may be my favourite Pink Floyd album. Definitely the one I've played the most since the 70s.

Beauty of a Day!

Gorgeous afternoon at the lake. Can't access Whitby Pier yet, but there's a nice view of it from Heydenshore Park.

Lakeview Park, Oshawa

Frankie, Riley, and Quinn are staying huddled together today. But they just want to go back to the car, the wind off the lake makes for a pretty cool walkabout.

Upside Down Frankie

Seems like only Frankie and me are interested in watching the Leaf game, and Frankie likes to watch upside down — which, if you think about it, makes sense 😂

It’s a CD kind of day :)

Too lazy for vinyl this morning but instead have a nice mix of CDs locked and loaded 😎
